My client, a manufacturing company, is set for significant growth over the next few years. As such they have a very exciting opportunity for a new Procurement Manager. The role is part of a small, dynamic team; and is a key part of the strategy to reduce costs in the supply chain through negotiation with current suppliers, product redevelopment and low-cost sourcing.

The growth forecasted requires a secure and optimal supply chain, and is essential to meet these targets. This role will have high exposure to the Board and Management Team.

The role will initially manage a small team and be very hands on, but will then develop into a Head of Procurement role for the right person.

*Define a commodity based procurement strategy which optimises the cost of procured goods whilst maintaining excellent standards of supplier performance and product quality
*Evaluate and control purchase requisitions to hold minimum inventory required to achieve production programme
*Ensure that stock levels enable stores picking dates can be met in line with production requirements
*Responsible for new supplier selection processes, including RFIs and RFPs, as well as maintaining relationships with existing suppliers to ensure that goods arrive OTIF
*Build strong internal relationships with senior stakeholders to communicate the procurement strategy and report on results
*Define, develop and implement contractual relationships with suppliers, ensuring that appropriate and auditable standards, controls and governance frameworks are in place

*Quick to define a strategy in order to meet cost, inventory level, supplier performance and quality targets
*Excellent stakeholder management skills and will have proven experience of leading successful negotiations
*Show a clear track record of innovation and being able to think outside of the box in a commercial role
*A self-starter with a strong ability to problem solve
*MCIPS qualified or have experience to a similar level
*A willingness to travel occasionally is essential
*Formal Lean and other project management training is desirable
