European Head of Talent, £75,000pa, Global Telco, Thames Valley
Artis Executive Search Case Studies
We have an excellent relationship with this long-standing client and were pleased when they approached us to manage this high profile assignment for them. Having identified a specific business need they were keen to attract a senior individual who could scope, define and promote bespoke talent development programmes across their European business.
As a global business they were looking for high performing people with the right functional and behavioural competencies, but also needed strong multi-lingual skills and a proven ability to work across diverse cultures… some might say we were looking for a ‘needle in a haystack’!
Success in such assignments is down to establishing a strong understanding of the business drivers behind the need, and having a broad and deep network of contacts.
We felt that this was not an opportunity that would have huge success through standard advertising, although we did take the role to market in this way too; we ran this predominantly as a search assignment. As with all search assignments, when primarily approaching the ‘passive’ senior market it is essential that your message and presentation of the opportunity to each prospective candidate is thorough, credible, and serves to bring the opportunity to life. As a complicated role with some clear deliverables there were a number of attractive components but presented wrong we felt had the potential to ‘attract’ the wrong candidates. We therefore spent good time defining the proposition and identifying our target market.
Having scoped the market looking we identified and contacted a long list of 38 candidates in similar roles. With an appropriate approach, via social media, telephone and face to face meetings we narrowed this long list down to 8 strong individuals, with 3 exceptional candidates making the final short list.
Utilising online testing tools enabled us to complement our interviews with language testing and behavioural profiling. The client was delighted when, following their interview and assessment process and only 6 weeks after instructing us, a successful offer was made on the role. (They later share with us that they expected the process to take several months!).
